Capitol Hill Classic Craftsman

This 1908 Craftsman home in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood was remodeled for a family of four seeking to create spaces that feel more open, informal, and functional while preserving the home’s classic character. The renovation focused on three key areas: the kitchen, dining room, and primary bathroom, each reimagined to better support the family’s daily routines and love of hosting guests

In the kitchen, the original layout was closed off from the dining room by doors, limiting flow and light. Removing these barriers allowed the two spaces to connect seamlessly, creating a more inviting environment for cooking and gathering. New flooring, updated light fixtures, and refreshed windows bring warmth and brightness, while custom cabinetry provides dedicated storage for barware, cookbooks, and kitchen essentials. Upgraded appliances and expanded counter space now make cooking both practical and enjoyable for a client who loves to spend time in the kitchen.

Upstairs, the home’s only full bathroom was transformed from a dated space centered around a clawfoot tub into a modern, family-friendly retreat. A new walk-in shower with a built-in bench and a skylight overhead adds both accessibility and natural light, making the room feel larger and more welcoming. The result is a cohesive update that enhances comfort and usability without sacrificing the historic charm that makes this Capitol Hill Craftsman feel like home.
